In these free consultations we like to find out about your specific needs, interests and requirements, so that we can customise your lessons.

These consultations also set out what the student can expect from us, their trainer and their course. They cover issues such as how much work, time and commitment is realistically involved in studying German as well as the pros and cons of 1 to 1 and group tuition. We also like to let you know about the training experience and methodology of our tutors and answer any others questions you may have.

Our Tutors

All our tutors are native speakers with an average of over ten years of teaching experience
Prior to your first lesson we will send you a profile of your teacher, detailing their training, experience and background

We have a passion for teaching and for bringing the German language to life. Practicing your skills in interaction with a native speaker and having real life conversations on relevant topics from your business will build your confidence and progress.

We provide structure, support and personal attention for your course so that you remain motivated and see progress.
We teach in a systematic (German!) way, using a variety of teaching materials
We recommend course books and other sources of supplementary material for you. We will be happy to order these books for you and have them delivered directly to your desk, saving you time and effort
Instructions on effective study methods are also included in the classes.

We are available Monday – Friday from 8am – 8pm, Saturdays 9am-6pm, and Sundays on request.

Trial Lessons
If you want to proceed after the initial Free Consultation, we will arrange the first lesson at half our standard rate. We subsidise the first class so you can try out your tutor, get to know them and their teaching methods and see how you get on. We will check with you after this initial lesson if you want to proceed and it is only if you are entirely happy that your course starts in earnest and our standard rates apply.
Our classes run throughout the year so you can start whenever you are ready.

Our Courses

Weekly 1 To 1 Classes
In-Company Classes are the most flexible: lessons go at the student's pace, focusing on the student's likes, interests and specialised needs. Teachers are very flexible in scheduling classes week by week around the student's time table. Whether students are beginners or advanced with specific needs, our service is flexible, fun and brings real results.
Information on Germany as a country and on business culture is incorporated into our classes.
Our tutors will teach you the necessary skills for
taking part in meetings
give presentations
increase your listening comprehension to understand what colleagues say in German in your presence
facilitate reading and writing, so you understand your German emails and can respond
classes also focus on writing business correspondence as required
These lessons usually take place on your premises but can be held at home if this is more convenient. Most students take at least one 90 min class a week.

Group Lessons

**Group Lessons are the most cost effective:

the cost for each additional group member rises on average by only £5 an hour
group sizes can be from 2 to 8 students
groups by nature usually take place on a fixed day and time determined by the group members

Lesson duration is no less than 90 minutes. Although each group member needs to be committed to study and to attend regularly, studying in a group enables interaction in German between the students in and outside the classroom which helps with making progress and maintaining motivation.

Intensive Courses

An Intensive Course is the fastest solution for employees who are going on secondment or need to learn pdq for whatever reason! For Intensive Tuition we recommend half day sessions (two 2-hour sessions with a break in-between) every day or every other day. Sessions can include the weekend and will include creative activities like

taking walks while talking in German

going to a German restaurant (including reading a German menu and ordering in German), or

spending time in a "German environment" like the Goethe institute.

For Intensive Courses, we sometimes use different teachers to provide a variety of accents and methodology. Two tutors can overlap in training sessions (e.g. over lunch) to simulate a business meeting or similar small group encounter.

There are discounts for Intensive Courses of more than 20 hours duration.

Business Culture Training

Explanations on differences between German and English business culture are always incorporated into our language course. However, it is also possible to book a two-hour to half-day presentation on this topic alone. This will address possible pitfalls such as

the best time to arrive for a meeting
dress codes
formality
negotiating tactics
thinking styles
social etiquette such as toasting, tipping, small talk conversation topics
and many others.

Half-day presentations also incorporate learning a few "survival phrases" and practicing these with your native speaker facilitator. These phrases as well as the topics of the presentation can be customised according to your needs and industry.

Exams
We are a Registered Centre with the OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and Royal Society Examinations Board, a leading UK awarding body) and can prepare students to take external, business-based exams. These are called CBLCs (Certificate in Business Language Competence) and come in four different levels. They can test reading, writing, speaking (on the phone and face-to-face) and listening or any combination of these skills. Once we have fully prepared the student, we will arrange for an examiner to come out to your premises at a day and time that suits the student to take the exam.

We can also prepare students for other exams such as GCSEs, A/AS-levels, SAT II, APs (Advanced Placement) and others.
